About the Hopkins Review Collection

This collections contains historic issues of The Hopkins Review. The journal was first published by the Department of the Writing Seminars in 1947 and ceased publication in 1953. Issues feature literary essays, poetry, and fiction and include contributors such as e.e. cummings, Robert Hazel, James Blish, Richard Wilbur, Pedro Salinas and Elliott Coleman.

The journal began under the editorship of Elliott Coleman, with later volumes published under the oversight of an editorial board. The collection contains six volumes; Volumes I and II were published three times per year, while Volumes III through VI were published on a quarterly basis. 

The Hopkins Review was revived in 2007 as a "New Series." For contemporary versions of the Hopkins Review, visit the website.
